Dogs and cats are carnivores – meat eaters. Raw diets try to replicate the diet Mother Nature intended carnivores to eat: meat, bone, organs, and some vegetation. Since they have no dietary requirement for carbohydrates, it makes no sense to feed dry food, since dry commercial pet foods use at least 60% grain to hold the food together. In addition, since the body turns carbohydrates into glucose (sugar), which is known to feed many of the health problems that plague our pets such as cancer, diabetes and obesity, by simply feeding dry foods we are contributing to those health problems. Being processed, dry foods also destroy and/or alter the natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes, amino acids and fatty acids found in the ingredients used to make the food.
