SNAP’s WOOF! classes are companion dog training classes offered on Friday evenings at our Syosset location. Patti Gutzeit and Maura Rogich make training a lot of fun for dogs and their owners, using games to teach them the skills they need, all using positive, reward-based training.

Puppy Free-Play – Since socialization is a vital part of raising a well-adjusted adult dog, SNAP offers supervised play sessions for puppies to play with each other and previously-approved adult dogs. This class is supervised by SNAP’s instructors, but it is strictly playtime – not a teaching environment. Playtimes are available in two packages and can be used on any night within the session in which it was purchased.
Prereqisites: For puppies between 10 and 26 weeks old. Acceptance into the play group must be approved by a SNAP instructor in order to assure good-tempered playtime for all attendees.

Puppy I - Knowing how crucially important the role of early socialization and training is in preventing behavior and temperament problems, SNAP offers our WOOF! Puppy class for puppies between 10 and 26 weeks old. Our Puppy class is designed to provide socialization, as well as teach bite inhibition, self control, recalls and much more. Most importantly, owners will learn fun, effective ways to communicate with their pups giving them a head start to becoming model canine citizens.
Prerequisites: For puppies between ten weeks and six months of age.

| Puppy II - For puppies that have taken SNAP's Puppy class and want to do more advanced work, SNAP offers Puppy II. Handlers are taught how to fade lures, while adding distance and distraction with their sits and downs, working on recalls, teaching "leave it" and more. Handlers will also have fun honing their clicker skills as they teach their puppies some tricks.
Prerequisites: For puppies who have taken SNAP's Puppy class and/or approval from Patti or Maura.

3D Obedience - For dogs that have taken any of our Puppy classes, a foundation class elsewhere or have already taken 3D Obedience, this class will help you take your training to a new level. Looking for faster responses to cues? Want your dog to "stay" longer and have better attention even in the face of distractions? Whether you have taken 3D before or are a newcomer, you will learn new ways to work on sits, downs, stays, recalls, attention and self-control while incorporating the 3Ds - Duration, Distance and Distraction. All teaching is done playing games with the dogs, who will not realize they are in school. With all the fun you will have, don't be fooled - a lot of learning will be going on in a positive "3D" atmosphere.
Prerequisites: For puppies/dogs who have taken any of SNAP's Puppy or 3D classes and/or approval from Patti or Maura.

Courteous Canine - For handlers whose goal is to turn their older puppy or dog into a polite companion. Handlers will learn training techniques that will help them get their dogs to perform the behaviors they want and how to put those behaviors on cue. This class will focus on teaching a reliable sit, down, leave it and come. If you want to teach your dog how to respond to you without bribing him with a cookie, this class is for you!
